Our Mission
This year our main mission is to educate people on Animal Organizations along with responsible pet ownership, and the "Trap, Neuter, and Release project.
The HOPE Dog Walk was founded seven years ago with the purpose of raising money for the Humane Society of Greater Miami when we entered the HOPE contest for our middle school, Highland Oaks Middle.
HOPE, which is an acronym for Help Overcome Pet Euthanasia and Helping Our Pets Every day , is a contest founded by our School Board Representative Dr. Martin Karp as a way to put an end to euthanasia. Every year the Humane Society and other animal organizations such as Animal Services take in thousands of dogs and cats and put them up for adoption. The purpose of this contest is to help spread awareness of the growing number of dogs and cats put in shelters and euthanized each year. The theme this year is "Preventing and Reporting Animal Cruelty". It is important for people to know how to spot the signs of animal cruelty and how to approach it. Our other missions besides raising money for the Humane Society are stated below. For more information about our cat initiative, click on the link. |
